Thursday, our leaders of music truly shined! Our Eagle chorus, Show Choir, and Synerchimes did their morning performance at school and then had their evening performance! A huge thank you to First Baptist Sebring for graciously letting us use their facility. Also, in between our Show Choir traveled to the Manor to spread holiday cheer to their residents! #TheWoodlawnWay #70YearsStrong #thebestisyettocome

This week our 3rd graders had the opportunity to visit Pet Supermarket and Winn Dixie to receive tours of their businesses and see the behind scenes of how those stores operate. Our enrichment win groups had the opportunity to read Because of Winn Dixie so this was a perfect way to bring reading to life! Many more pictures on our Facebook page.

🧥 The Secret Lives of Jackets
Did you know your child’s jacket has a secret life? We think they all hang out in the cafeteria after hours. Check out this evidence!
If you see your family's denim jacket, Minnie Mouse hoodie, or the infamous grey sherpa-lined zip-up, please come rescue it from the party!
Where to Claim: The Cafeteria
When: Any time before dismissal!
We promise they're safe, but they really need to go home and be washed. 😉

We hope our WES families have an enjoyable break.
Over the break, here are some things you can do:
🗸 Wash your backpack, water bottle and lunchbox - help stop the spread of germs.
🗸 Clean out your backpack, toss old or broken items and load it with new supplies.
🗸 Read a good book! Keep working on your GOAL!
🗸 Take time to Sharpen the Saw . . . Make sure you rest and relax.
🗸 Do something nice for someone, it doesn’t have to be big.
We wish you a happy Thanksgiving!

Mark your calendars-

On Tuesday, we honored Veteran’s Day with TWO performances under the leadership and direction of our amazing music teacher, Mrs. Ritenour! We appreciated Dr. Selley, Woodlawn parent and Veteran, for sharing about his experience in the military. We appreciate every Veteran who attended and for all of our families who came out to celebrate with us! It was a packed house as we had to make a last minute change to host indoors, but what stood out the most was the pride for our great nation shared by every individual there! See our Facebook page for many more pictures!
Way to go, Eagles!❤️🤍💙🦅

This is all the lost and found as of 11/6/2025. Please have students check the rack and box in the lunchroom. Thank you.

Friday was an exciting culmination to a very special project…Woodlawn’s classroom wing addition. We appreciate all who took time to help us celebrate. There are so many thank yous to give especially to Marmer Construction and all the subcontractors who played a part. But most importantly, we say THANK YOU to our staff who have been flexible through all the things and kept our vision and mission at the heart of this year even through all the challenges and barriers. The Woodlawn Way is possible because of the people who fill our classrooms and school. We are blessed with the best. School’s in session on Monday!! We have many more pictures of this event on our Facebook page.

Last week was the annual Summit Awards where every school recognizes their Teacher and Employee of the Year! Tonight started with our reigning Highlands County Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Dara Judah, addressing the audience with her heart and passion for teaching. She represents The Woodlawn Way perfectly! Then we got to recognize Mrs. Ginger McIntyre and Mrs. Erica Ashley! We ended the night with a huge celebration…the announcement of Highlands County’s new Teacher of the Year, Woodlawn’s very own…Mrs. Erica Ashley! We are proud of all three of these phenomenal individuals. #TheWoodlawnWay #70YearsStrong #TheBestisYettoCome

This week is National School Psychologist Week and Woodlawn is blessed with the B to the E to the S to the T! Mrs. Davis works alongside our MTSS and guidance teams to provide support to students, conduct student evaluations, and meet with families to help each child get what they need to be successful. We’d be lost without her constant guidance and are grateful she’s part of our team. #TheWoodlawnWay #70YearsStrong #TheBestisYettoCome

Woodlawn Elementary 3rd graders had the opportunity to go to Highlands County Ag Venture on Tuesday! This amazing experience hosted by the agriculture community in Sebring is a hands-on fokd trip for our students. Students visited stations about grapes, alligators, ornamental horticulture, strawberries, citrus, and beef…just to name a few. We are thankful for the Ag Venture team for continuing this experience for our students. #TheWoodlawnWay #70YearsStrong #TheBestisYettoCome

We're thrilled to join the Florida Department of Education in celebrating Gifted Education Week! The Florida Department of Education has officially designated November 3-7, 2025, as Gifted Education Week in Florida! This is a fantastic time to recognize Florida's commitment to providing rigorous educational experiences and tailored support for our advanced learners.
Here in Highlands County, we are celebrating the incredible achievements and innovative spirit of our students. Our elementary gifted students have been exploring this year's hands-on curriculum, "The Carnival of Creativity."
Building Skills for the Future
Our students are engaging in hands-on, collaborative projects that focus on their intellectual growth and the development of critical academic skills:
STEAM & Design Challenges: Students are tackling real-world, carnival-themed STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) challenges. They are applying the engineering design process and using math and science concepts to create a variety of products.
Building Resilience: A key focus is on developing perseverance and a growth mindset. These challenges are intentionally complex, giving students a safe space to practice problem-solving, learn from setbacks, and build grit.
Innovation and Leadership: Through teamwork, students are honing their critical and creative thinking abilities, practicing leadership skills, and developing real-world problem-solving strategies.

Then it was 5th grade’s turn to solve the tricks in order to get their treats! Check our Facebook page for lots of pictures.
