Wednesday was a special honor for our Woodlawn community! We were invited by The Leader in Me to apply for the prestigious honor of Legacy School. We completed an application, compiled an extensive evidence binder, and today it was culminated with our onsite review visit. We were told just four days prior that THE Muriel Summers, principal of AB Combs Elementary, would be part of our review team. Our leaders showcased our leadership opportunities, provided a tour for our school, took our guests into classrooms, our community members, staff members, and parents participated in panels, and the highlight of our day was our Legacy Student Panel, where ambassadors from over the years came back to share about the impact of our school. It was a day of celebration and most importantly a great reflection of the most important work we do…empowering children and others to find their voice. We truly have started a wave! https://www.facebook.com/reel/4248970578702489

This week, we had royalty in our presence at Woodlawn! Our Kindergarten Kings and Queens had fun at their Royal Teddy Bear Tea Party filled with curtsies, bows, and tea cups. Our Kindergarten leaders had pinkies uo as they sipped apple juice and ate cookies, practiced reading sight words to their invited stuffed animal guest of honor, and danced the morning away at the Royal Ball. What better way to spend a morning in kindergarten? Lots of pictures of this fun event are on our Facebook page, so be sure to take a look!
